Beep! Beep!

While it’s not totally original, I love Tyler Fortney‘s poster design for AIGA Toledo using nonpareil sprinkles to create type. “To produce the poster, we screenprinted a combination of gloss varnish and bookbinding glue onto an 18″ x 24″ sheet. Immediately after removing it from underneath the screen, we poured the sprinkles onto the wet adhesive, instantly creating what we had envisioned.”  Read More

Guimarães JAZZ

Many great projects for the Jazz community. But I really loved the limited color palette and hand-lettering on this. In awe. View the other pieces in the campaign.  Read More

I can’t believe I missed this poster around Independence Day, what a great specimen!  Read More

May Day

Shepard Fairey has produced some nice portraits for an exhibit titled May Day, and this one of Keith Haring (a Kutztown-native) has got to be my favorite! “These people I’m portraying were all revolutionary, in one sense or another. They started out on the margins of culture and ended up changing the mainstream. When we celebrate big steps that were made in the past, it reminds us that big steps can be made in the future.” If only I could... Read More

Holy F—

Not my typical post, but man is this too good to pass up. My husband once made up a drink at the bar and called it “Holy What the F—”, because that’s what comes out of your mouth after you drink it. The poster is a collaboration between Justin David Cox and Cody Haltom, both of Public School.  Read More

My Gift

I was going to write a weekly post documenting the progress of my husband’s valentine’s day gift, and then decided on the opposite. I have a feeling he may visit the site once in a while and I didn’t want to ruin the surprise (he has no idea, well, at least until now). So I’m posting a handmade gift that I gave to him previously. We aren’t a needy couple, we live modestly and extravagant gifts don’t frequent our... Read More

Rocker Marries Knitter

I wasn’t sure how to title this post exactly but this is one amazing invitation. Created by Jordan Gray Creative for the musician Denison Witmer and his wife, who loves to knit. The all encompassed self-mailing invitation has two fold-outs for directions and the rsvp. Nicely done. View the high-res photos on Flickr. via NotCot  Read More

Doctor Pizzoli

I just found the work of Doctor Pizzoli thanks to the Continuing Education site at The University of Arts in Philadelphia, where Greg is teaching a course titled The Screen Printed Poster.  Read More

Gig Posters

I’m not a huge collector of posters (in fact I don’t think I own a single one) but I am a huge admirer of the art created for posters and particularly the rock genre. So I am more than happy to promote the book Gig Posters by Clay Hayes featuring “101 perforated and ready-to-hang posters along with hundreds of other poster images and designer biographies.” Can it get any better … I think not. Above are some images... Read More
