Lydia Nichols

I really get way too excited when I stumble upon a designer/illustrator from my home state. Pennsylvania is the place to be, and Lydia Nichols‘ work is just fantastic. Originally from Pennsylvania, Lydia now lives in New York but continues to infuse her work with inspiration from her home state. I especially love the Pennsylvania Wedding invitation she created, at bottom. Bucks County Pennsylvania Wedding  Read More

Support Small Business #1

+ My first of many reasons to support small business. You’ve heard the saying never put all your eggs in one basket, right? Well that’s the case with employment. In every community, there’s always some giant that employs half the town. What happens when that giant moves or closes? Half the town is unemployed and the spirit of a community is broken. It’s the same in the design world, never have the majority of your work with... Read More

Post Mortem Gallery

I am not one for obsessing over the after life, but if you walk into the Post Mortem Gallery – in New Hope, PA – you are sure to be as bewitched as I was. I’ve inserted a gallery at the bottom of the post, so don’t miss all the great items that I got to see in person! The most interesting to me in that shop, was the mourning art (or Art Memento Mori). The owner of the shop was nice enough to engage in some conversation and directed... Read More

Made Shop

Today I finally got to visit Made Shop in person! What a great shop filled with well-designed objects from the 20th and 21st centuries and a nice selection of the owner’s (Tess & Dave) jewelry, lighting, and sculpture! I even got to chat with shop owner, Tess for a moment. She was super nice and allowed me snap photos with my iPhone for this post! Looking around at their selection, I just could not resist these miniature modern Eames chairs... Read More

Daniel Kent

I’m a little sad (being so close to Lancaster) that I didn’t find his work sooner, but this morning DWL has his work for a campaign called Love Lancaster featured … I was ecstatic! Daniel Kent is a freelance graphic designer living in Lancaster, PA and partakes in a great creative community. I’m hoping that sort of attitude will increase here in my town, a little goal of mine.  Read More

Tina Dolin

Facebook has it’s advantages, one being that I discovered Tina Dolin Photography thanks to a friend. I immediately became a fan after viewing her work. And best of all? She’s local! Her style is elevated in comparison to many of the photographers in my town and she really has an eye for composition when it comes to her images. I’m a huge fan of photojournalism and the most natural looking shots which you can see in each of her images.... Read More

PA Spotlight: N.C. Wyeth

N.C. Wyeth is a great American illustrator and painter who’s life began and ended in the month of October, so I thought it was fitting to feature his legacy in this month’s PA Spotlight. N.C. Wyeth came to Pennsylvania thanks to two of his friends who relocated for Howard Pyle’s School of Art. Howard Pyle was called the “father” of American illustration, and Wyeth immediately meshed with his methods and ideals. His... Read More

Shop Shopping

It’s always been a fascination of mine, shop fronts. Today I wandered around the downtown area of Hamburg, Pennsylvania looking at store fronts for a dream of mine. Here you’ll see many of the ones I would consider for a business. Thanks to Ellie at Mint for the inspiring post yesterday. #1 – This building would be my number one pick, mostly because of it’s size and it’s potential. Named after it’s owners Jacob... Read More
