Via paper tastebuds

I’ve already forgotten how I found Urban Influence but I really like the work done for the New Sheridan Hotel.

A Goofy Movie, released in April 1995

Toy Story, released in November 1995

Both were released in 1995 and share the same lettering in Toy and Goofy, and share the odd red shape. Am I the only one that sees this? Did one rip-off the other even though they are both working through Disney? What are your thoughts, or do you have a conspiracy theory on this?

The new logo

Purl is moving to a larger location in Soho in April, and along with that move they’ve updated their logo. They show the process on their blog which I think is great that they are giving insight to their process with their designer Brooke, of Inchmark and type designer, Natasha Tibbott.

The previous logo

This is just the most adorable little coffee bean. Created by the user Super Furry on Flickr. One of my favorite past times is looking at my Flickr contacts, so many interesting things going on!

Before

It’s amazing to meet up with people that I went to high school with and find out about their life adventures, many of them own businesses and in this case … several. But it was very exciting to hear that this project was going to be a bit of fun for both of us. See the last image for the final design.

After, the updated logo

The updated logo is very similar to the original design, but that was only after realizing that the options that were presented just weren’t what she was looking for. It took her a long time to build up her reputation in the area and she didn’t want to stray away from that. I completely understood and now she has a logo that she loves and she’s currently in the process of opening her own boutique.

And while many designers love to showcase logo processes that go wonderfully perfect – I though I would show that sometimes logo projects go sideways, up and down, but the end result should always be client satisfaction.

I’m going to guess that a lot of people get Jesse’s name wrong, so thank goodness I only have to type it! Jesse Kaczmarek has some great work that’s been seen all around the web, but I could not resist posting this little gem posted under Misc.

Over at Viget Labs they have posted a detailed progress on how they developed the logo for their new cloud app titled Utterly Pointless. Using geometry (geometry again? I know two posts in a row) a bear on a bicycle was created using the golden rectangle and simple geometry.
