So the other work I warned you that I was working on invitations (three in one week!) and that I would post photos later. Alas, here they are! There’s quite a process involved with these beginning with research, then drawing, drawing, and more drawing. Once I’m satisfied with the drawings, they are inked and then scanned in (a few of the scans are shown below) so that I can add color using the computer. I have sheets of unused drawings but I plan to use them for inspiration on other designs.

Yesterday I posted about Once Upon a Press, which is a part of Chelle Paperie where wonderful stationery and invitations are made. I could not resist posting this extraordinary invite.

And these fabulous Save the Date’s for the very same event. I would have loved to receive an invite like this, wouldn’t you?

New wedding invites over at Pica Press, I love when wood type is used on celebratory stationery. LOVE it!

So after sending some examples from previous drawings (shown above) I immediately went to the drawing board and began with sketches from references that I sought out online. Once I had them to where I like them, I sent it over and she was excited!

From there I had to make the design work with her colors –bright pink, orange, and brown– a very nice choice but not your typical colors for tattoos. It turned out great!!!

And finally the finished invites above! The colors and the drawings look fantastic and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Custom design is the way to go for weddings and it’s sometimes sad that women don’t know all of their options out there. But when they do, it’s a great result.
