Trainspotters
I’ve had this website bookmarked for well over a year now and I can’t figure out why I’ve never posted about it. Well that’s changing today. Trainspotters not only has a good story behind it but even more important the products that they offer have wow-factor. Vintage and Antique (salvaged) lighting, furniture and more. It’s not your typical antiques so don’t be fooled by it’s categorization. The only downfall?... Read More
Amsterdam again
What is it with Amsterdam ad the environmentally-conscious agencies? I’m not sure but I’m loving the interiors that are being created due to it. In the theme of Amsterdam and sustainability, as in today’s earlier post here’s another one. i29 has created a new work space for the agency Gummo by repurposing secondhand furniture. They painted everything black using polyurea hotspray (a paint that is environmentally friendly),... Read More
Castle
I love color combinations and bed linens, and even more … I love them together! Castle is the store front for Rachel Castle, a Sydney-based designer who went from a branding and design agency in London to homemade linens and artwork. “The brand represents a love of beautiful, often handcrafted or handprinted, pieces for the home.” If you have a love for the handmade and desire graphic, colorful bedding or artwork then you should... Home Improvements
So my husband and I took on our official first D.I.Y. project to completion. This weekend we purchased and installed hardwood flooring in our entry way to our home. We had to break and remove the tile that was there (seen in the before photo above) and then a very nice friend who’s in the flooring business came over for the day and installed the flooring with my husband. The cost? We only had to pay for the flooring which was under $100!!!!... Read More
Numbers for Dinner
Like numbers? Me too. I saw these cute number themed napkins by Heather Lins. These could be interesting for a conversation-starter or a great gift for the lover of typography. …and there are coasters, …and placemats too! Read More
Ace Hotel
Ace Hotel is coming to New York. They currently have locations in Seattle, Palm Springs and Portland but I am most interested in the soon-to-open Ace Hotel in New York since it’s the first on the East Coast and it’s only 2-3 hours away. Unfortunately, the images are scarce on some of the rooms but there’s still time before it opens. Much of the site has ‘Coming Soon’ messages but from what I see it looks promising! Room... Read More
Useful and Useless
Hooks Saw some useful and not-so-useful objects while perusing the internet today. First is the very useful Beech hooks that I saw on Remodelista from Manufactum. Hooks And these would look great in a laundry area or garage. Nicely done. On Off Switch And the totally useless (but fun) On/Off Switch from Kiosk. This could be so much fun to put in your home and see how people react. What is that switch for? ( …insert crazy story here ) Just as... Read More
Hotel Happiness
My husband and I wanted to take the bed from our honeymoon home with us. But instead we had to buy a King-sized mattress and box-spring and try to recreate. So far, not much success. After buying the house and trying to get it to our liking it’s been taking a little bit more time than expected. But today I read this article on ApartmentTherapy.com on Hotel Beds called Best Bed Breakdown: Hotel Minneapolis. To be honest, I never thought of investigating... Read More
Swede Interiors
How swede are these interiors? Love, love them. I adore the open kitchens, and when my husband I remodel our home, this is what I’m going to model it after. Kvanum Kvanum is a swedish design company focusing on kitchen and storage solutions for the home. Two men, now the owners of Kvanum are the grandchildren of Gustav Johansson who built his first kitchen in 1923. They learned that not only should a kitchen look good, but it should function... Vitsoe
I’m in love with another furniture company. Vitsoe has 50 years of experience in the furniture industry and from the looks of it, many other stores (*ahem, I won’t mention them by name) have knocked off the designs. The incredible products were designed by Dieter Rams, who was discovered in post-war Germany by Niels Wiese Vitsoe. Vitsoe The Vitsoe website has a wealth of information and images on it’s products and I hope to be able... Read More
