Calligraffiti
I’m above impressed with the work of Niels Shoe Meulman and his work on Calligraffiti. Calligraffiti is the combination of graffiti and calligraphy. It’s intense, beautiful, and every second spent on the site is worth it. There is a grit or dirtiness to the work that just draws me in with the traditional Blackletter or Fraktur style (used quite a bit in Germany) with a sense of urgency and care. He is listed to have a workshop/lecture... Read More
Conor Harrington
Another link that I’ve had bookmarked for almost a year (if not longer) and can’t believe I have not posted about it yet. Conor Harrington is an artist, and more specifically a painter. His work combines the art of traditional painting with the roughness of graffiti art into powerful work that stuns me. Conor is originally from Ireland but resides in London where he struggles to fight the label of graffiti artist and emerge into that... Read More

Dirty
One of my favorite shows to watch is Dirty Jobs featuring Mike Rowe. Recently the show celebrated 200 dirty jobs and throughout the show graffiti was used as a visual aid between takes. I don’t have great shots on it, but I took one with my iPhone while watching and one from youTube of the graffiti on trash cans. I thought it was nicely done and can’t wait for more Dirty Jobs! Want to know more about the show? Visit Discovery Channel... Read More

Freedom Tunnel
Freedom Tunnel Some amazing photos are on view over at citynoise.org with a post by Peter that features images from within Freedom Tunnel in Manhattan. What’s the story behind Freedom Tunnel? The former Amtrak tunnel has been a place of residence for many homeless under Riverside Park in Manhatttan and contains many graffiti pieces on it’s walls. The tunnel got it’s name because some of the most notable artwork was created by graffiti... Read More
