Thanks to their influense she combined them all into creating beautifully handcrafted furniture.  Read More

Card Catalogs

I love, LOVE card catalogs (as you may know). Something about all those little drawers tempting me to open each and every one of them … even though I know they all contain just cards. But what if they could contain more then that? Well, a kind fellow contacted me because he has quite a few of these lovelies in his possession from the Yale Art and Architecture Library and they are for sale! Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll... Read More

PA Spotlight: Harry Bertoia

You should probably recognize that last name, as in the Bertoia Chair. That’s right, Harry Bertoia (shown third from right in his diamond chair) lived in Pennsylvania for many years of his life and his family grew here in Barto, Pennsylvania. He was mostly known for his widely popular furniture, but was also a sculptor and university lecturer. He introduced wire rods into the furniture design scene in 1952 and worked with Charles Eames to develop... Read More

Trainspotters

I’ve had this website bookmarked for well over a year now and I can’t figure out why I’ve never posted about it. Well that’s changing today. Trainspotters not only has a good story behind it but even more important the products that they offer have wow-factor. Vintage and Antique (salvaged) lighting, furniture and more. It’s not your typical antiques so don’t be fooled by it’s categorization. The only downfall?... Read More

Ooh, I love ruffles and this chair makes me love them even more. Fredrik Färg, a designer from Sweden is combining an admiration for classic menswear with seating. He removes the backrests from reclaimed chairs and replaces them with the new structure made of polyester felt and calls it “slow fashion” furniture. I don’t know about you, but I would run out and buy one of these, wouldn’t you? They’re sexy, comfortable-looking... Read More

Swede Interiors

How swede are these interiors? Love, love them. I adore the open kitchens, and when my husband I remodel our home, this is what I’m going to model it after. They learned that not only should a kitchen look good, but it should function... Read More

Vitsoe

I’m in love with another furniture company. Vitsoe has 50 years of experience in the furniture industry and from the looks of it, many other stores (*ahem, I won’t mention them by name) have knocked off the designs. The incredible products were designed by Dieter Rams, who was discovered in post-war Germany by Niels Wiese Vitsoe. Vitsoe The Vitsoe website has a wealth of information and images on it’s products and I hope to be able... Read More

Insert Coin

Coin These are some of the coolest book shelves I’ve ever seen. Insert Coin is a product offered by Nils Holger Moormann who I’ve also featured for their Bookinist product quite some time ago. “Trays are inserted into a wall panel in any order, so that each shelf system has its own unique look. Insert Coin provides an attractive place not just for books but for everything else that we want to have a special place on the wall.” Nils... Read More
