Homemade Films
A while back I contacted A Bryan Photo about documenting some family trips using Super 8 films. They have recently introduced a new package called Homemade Films. You get to borrow one Super 8 video camera, a LOMO, and a Holga. Also included is the film for both and a video tutorial DVD on how to use all the cameras! Once you’re done, you just mail the kit a back to them and they will process, edit and present them back to you in final... Read More

Thanks to a tweet from Chris Cashdollar, I am officially immersed in the film work of Eliot Rausch and Phos Pictures. It began with Last Minutes with Oden, and then Pennies Heart. One by one I came to see how incredible these films are. I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful, so just watch. Read More

Partly Cloudy
The new Pixar short, Partly Cloudy. They are just too talented for words. I wonder if the shorts are more of a creative exercise and are more fun to work on than their full length films. Read More

The new camera creates credit card sized color photos... Read More
Objectified
A new film has been produced by Gary Hustwit called Objectified. It’s a film about the objects in our lives, their design, existence and what is in the future for these items. Mr. Hustwit is also the creator of Helvetica the film-phenom that captured the attention of many, and not only designers. I can only assume this film will have a similar impact with it’s intense focus on product design, drawing in not only graphic designers, but... Read More

Nothing In Common
Nothing in Common is a great 80′s film featuring Jackie Gleason and Tom Hanks as a Creative Director. Above is the teaser trailer for it, unfortunately I can’t find my favorite part by itself but you see a bit of it around 0:42 seconds where his creative team is presenting him with different ideas. It’s really a great movie and I never saw it until last week. If you’re one of those whose life revolves around work, watch this... Read More
Poster Art
Not like many theaters, which used posters provided by the movie studios, Loew’s Grand Theatre in Atlanta showed Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films almost exclusively and had two artists on staff strictly for the poster art. Charles Reese Collier and Sid Smith made posters piececs of art using chalk and paint for each new film, no computer. Amazing! Architectural Digest has a wonderful article on the artists of Loew’s Theater and a feast for the... Read More
