Eastern Columbia

I have fallen in love with this custom typeface for Eastern Columbia historical building. The custom typeface was created by Andrea Tinnes of typecuts.  Read More

Graduation Invitations

Sarah Mick graduated from the University of Wisconsin, but just before doing so created some fun invites with a black, yellow, and white color scheme along with some truly fun copy. Now this is the kind of invitation that kids should send out to get some attendance!  Read More

Little Aviary

Almost one year ago, I posted about the design work of Rachel Dangerfield. Now, Rachel is slowly launching a stationery line under the name of Little Aviary. Can you believe how adorable these invites are? I’m looking at you Rachel, I want to see more!  Read More

Oh Thank You

Such beautiful thank you cards over on Oh, Hello Friend. These were created and sent to guests of their wedding shower. Aren’t they just adorable? She letterpressed the hang tag, sewed them on to the backer card which was printed with the thank you message. The envelopes featured vintage postage and a custom mailing label.  Read More

Koi Invitations

When this client emailed me, my response was “You had me at koi.” Kelly and Joseph liked the tattoo invitations that I can create, but they wanted a set that revolved around koi fish. Wouldn’t you say yes too?! I was so pleased with the results and this time, and I was able to use a gray as the stock color rather than white.  Read More

In Progress: Party Invites

I’m working on some pretty fun invites for a birthday party and thought I would share my process throughout. So here are some of the thumbnails and sketches I’ve been working on. I’ll write more posts of work that’s in progress. I think it helps explain what a designer does from day to day, ideas don’t just flow from our heads to the computer and then to the printer (at least not ALL of us). Some have a tried and true... Read More

Tease Your Guests!

While working with a great couple on their upcoming wedding stationery, they wanted to entice their guests with a unique save the date. The package featured a scroll with calligraphy that read “Eat this date, but please save ours”, and a date treat inside of a paper box with a custom insert to keep the two pieces separate. The guests’ first impression was a small box wrapped with a decorative paper and label that helps set the... Read More

Benign Objects

I’m really adoring the work of Rachel Wiles of Benign Objects. A graphic designer and a writer/editor for The Dieline, Rachel creates handmade wedding invitations and I’m envious at how she incorporates unusual materials into her pieces. Handkerchiefs? Gorgeous! I might be looking into some unique ones myself, so watch out!  Read More

More Tattoo Invitations

So the other work I warned you that I was working on invitations (three in one week!) and that I would post photos later. Alas, here they are! There’s quite a process involved with these beginning with research, then drawing, drawing, and more drawing. Once I’m satisfied with the drawings, they are inked and then scanned in (a few of the scans are shown below) so that I can add color using the computer. I have sheets of unused drawings... Read More

Sailing Invites

I’ve been busy this past week. Three invitation sets were scheduled to be produced and three sets were indeed, produced. If you follow me on Facebook you already know that I nearly took out my thumb in the process with a cutter. Thankfully, it just cut a small piece and is healing well. Even though it was difficult to tie over a hundred knots with an out of order thumb, I was very pleased with the results! For Jessica and Jared, I created... Read More
