I saw this adorable how-to (below) in the recent newsletter from GOOP, and couldn’t resist sharing it with you. It comes from the book Kid Made Modern by Todd Oldham featuring projects inspired by mid-century artists and designers. The projects use inexpensive and recycled materials for it’s creative tutorials. I think we will definitely try this wooden spoon project in our house. Wooden spoons can be found at any flea market, salvation army, or goodwill store.

The Make Lounge is located in London and I really wish there were locations like this in my area. The mission of The Make Lounge is to offer contemporary craft workshops with a stylish, social twist. How cool does that sound? I bet each workshop is inspiring and fun, being able to work with like-minded artists or craftspersons in a relaxed environment can result in many things. New friends, collaborations, new business … who knows!

It was my little guy’s (Cody) birthday party this weekend and it was a blast! We had a movie night birthday bash. Originally it was going to be a backyard movie night bash with an outdoor movie theater but since the weather forecast was calling for rain we had to go to plan B. (It did not rain at all by the way on Sat. or Sun, thank you very much weather folks.)

We set up a digital movie projector in the basement and projected Meet the Robinson’s on the wall. Before that we sang Happy Birthday with his cupcake tree for a birthday cake, ate some sugar cookie lollipops, handed out popcorn bags filled with favors and we had an all you can eat popcorn station.

I wish there were one of these in my neighborhood. The workroom is a sew & craft by the hour space. They will supply everything you need to complete projects as well! I need one of these places! I’ve been dying to do my own sewing projects and my mom is a genius at crafting and sewing but I want to do it on my own! Maybe I’ll just have to give in and ask since I need a duvet cover, and need it quick.

So much fun, come on people in the US … let’s make our own workrooms! But if you are luck enough to live in Canade and even luckier to live in Ontario, you can visit the real workroom at 1340 Queen Street West in Toronto. Don’t rub it in either.
