Koi Invitations

When this client emailed me, my response was “You had me at koi.” Kelly and Joseph liked the tattoo invitations that I can create, but they wanted a set that revolved around koi fish. Wouldn’t you say yes too?! I was so pleased with the results and this time, and I was able to use a gray as the stock color rather than white. 0

In Progress: Party Invites

summers1

I’m working on some pretty fun invites for a birthday party and thought I would share my process throughout. So here are some of the thumbnails and sketches I’ve been working on. I’ll write more posts of work that’s in progress. I think it helps explain what a designer does from day to day, ideas don’t just flow from our heads to the computer and then to the printer (at least not ALL of us). Some have a tried and true process, and this is part of mine. Far from perfect, but all give me a good sense of layout. Some I like to add color, or completely line in ink. But others I like…

In the Sketchbook

So what has been going on in my sketchbook lately? A lot of this. … and this, and that. 0

Invitations in Progress

Working on some very fun tattoo save the dates and invitations. And while I’m at it, my invitations for Jessica & Jared are on Oh So Beautiful Paper!!! 0

Tease Your Guests!

jsDates-5

While working with a great couple on their upcoming wedding stationery, they wanted to entice their guests with a unique save the date. The package featured a scroll with calligraphy that read “Eat this date, but please save ours”, and a date treat inside of a paper box with a custom insert to keep the two pieces separate. The guests’ first impression was a small box wrapped with a decorative paper and label that helps set the tone for their wedding day. It gives the guests a taste of what’s to come and leaves them wanting more. 0

More Tattoo Invitations

So the other work I warned you that I was working on invitations (three in one week!) and that I would post photos later. Alas, here they are! There’s quite a process involved with these beginning with research, then drawing, drawing, and more drawing. Once I’m satisfied with the drawings, they are inked and then scanned in (a few of the scans are shown below) so that I can add color using the computer. I have sheets of unused drawings but I plan to use them for inspiration on other designs. Wedding invitations for Megan & Casey. Hand drawn invitations, postcards, and envelope. Wedding invitations for Jason & Kasia. Hand Drawn invitations and rsvp cards….

Sailing Invites

I’ve been busy this past week. Three invitation sets were scheduled to be produced and three sets were indeed, produced. If you follow me on Facebook you already know that I nearly took out my thumb in the process with a cutter. Thankfully, it just cut a small piece and is healing well. Even though it was difficult to tie over a hundred knots with an out of order thumb, I was very pleased with the results! For Jessica and Jared, I created a hand-drawn invitation combining their color palette with a Sailor Jerry tattoo theme that was based on the aspect of sailing! The couple plan to arrive (as well as guests) to the…

Nickole Invitations

I had the pleasure to create some really fun accordion fold invitations for Nikki & Pete (a friend of my husband’s) with a perforated RSVP postcard. Fun, right? The color combo was simple yet strong and make great invitations that the recipients are sure to love. Want more information on custom wedding invitations? Invitations in Progress

I really can’t wait to see the client’s reaction to these invitations. I’ve given them the main idea (being the accordion format) but they haven’t yet seen the design. I really hope they like them, and if not, you’ll be seeing them in my upcoming collection anway – I love them! I’ve even created approval stickers now, so I have a signature from the client and the exact invitation selected so there aren’t any mix-up’s. Sorry about the low-quality photos, I only had my iPhone handy. 0

Lovely Logo Refresh

It’s amazing to meet up with people that I went to high school with and find out about their life adventures, many of them own businesses and in this case … several. But it was very exciting to hear that this project was going to be a bit of fun for both of us. See the last image for the final design. The updated logo is very similar to the original design, but that was only after realizing that the options that were presented just weren’t what she was looking for. It took her a long time to build up her reputation in the area and she didn’t want to stray away from that. I…
