Helen Musselwhite
I am at a lost for words, speechless really. Helen Musselwhite of the UK has some amazing skills with cut paper. Just look.
Caskata
I was recently looking for some unique paper, and came across something new – Caskata. Caskata is the work of Shawn Laughlin a modern and organic designer who’s work is on tableware and paper products. I was really drawn to her subject of choice, nature.
Kotryna Zukauskaite
This is the work of freelance illustrator and student Kotryna Zukauskaite showing her ironic view of infographics all in the form of paper objects. I’m obsessed with paper and infographics so if you combine the two, I’m ecstatic! via @uponafold
Jaq Belcher
Jaq Belcher is a real talent with paper. Just take a look at jaqbelcher.com and I’m sure you’ll agree.
Upon a Fold
I love paper, and this new site is inspiring to say the least! Upon a Fold is the child of Justine & Matt showcasing from finding or creating unique paper products. Whenever I come across a beautiful object made of paper I wish I had a place to put it on show for all to see and enjoy. So, ta-da, here it is… Upon a Fold. I mean, seriously. My heart skipped a beat when I saw all of these fun little items and the little girl in my head said “but I want to make and sell fun little paper things too!”. And I do make them, but I don’t sell them (yet.) and…
Le Creativ Sweatshop
I am nearly speechless because of these window displays by Le Creativ Sweatshop in Palerma. Made of paper from the Curious Collection. And if you want a paper-induced goodness seizure, visit Le Creative Sweatshop’s website. Via @storewindows
WWF in Paper
No, not the World Wresting Federation, they’re now the WWE. The WWF is the World Wildlife Fund and Simon Cook created a website using paper boats, planes, and more for the WWF who were campaigning to get the UK government to tighten up on Carbon emissions in the Climate Change Bill going through parliament. I must say, the WWF are smart for not only letting creative folks stretch their muscles in helping them, but it also attracts folks who are unaware of their efforts.
Love Is In The Air
With Valentine’s Day less than one month away I came up with a cute little idea for a paper airplane with a trail of hearts. It was made for my husband but that is in addition to a much better gift which I will be posting about the process later on this week. I put these up for sale in my Etsy shop if you would like on of your very own. I will even hand-write a special message on the inside of the plane if you’d like.
Paper Quilling
While paper quilling as an art is not new, it’s being used in new ways by designers and artists. I found two great examples of them online. But let’s get a bit familiar with quilling or paper filigree. The art of quilling began during the Renaissance, when French and Italian nuns and monks used the unique paper art to decorate book covers and religious items. The quilling often imitated the original ironwork of those days. Common shapes used in quilling are shown above courtesy of quilling.blogspot.com. I’m sure the art will continue to evolve, and I look forward to seeing the results and may just try it myself. Zim and Zou‘s work (shown above) has…
Shadow Puppets
I found these adorable laser-cut shadow puppets by Isabellas Art while browsing on Etsy last night (from the Gotta Etsy app on my iPhone) and immediately fell in love. My 6-year old and I made some a year ago, simple ones such as dinosaurs, fish, and sharks and we had a blast. It’s amazing how much fun you can have with a flashlight, construction paper, and wooden skewers.
