S.A.S.E. Club
This little illustration is too cute, but what really struck me was that Invisible Creature is having fun with some old fashioned participation using snail mail. Why? Because we all like to receive good ol’ mail. So all you have to do is send them a self-addressed stamped envelope (decorated in some way) and they’ll fill it with goodies. I’m already planning mine out, oh, and you only have until September 1 and you have to get creative with your envelope! Read the details. “Regardless of your artistic ability, we ask that your envelope addressed to us be creatively designed or illustrated. No rules, anything goes – and we’ll post the coolest ones on Twitter.”…

Feeling inspired by these three font designs inspired by traditional Polish embroidery by Iwona Przybyla. 2
Flag Ephemera
Kit Hinrichs talks about flag ephemera on the Felt & Wire blog. Swooning…. This is the sort of thing that I would pay WAY too much money for at a flea market or antique extravaganza, I’ve been known to do that. 0
Paper Surprise
My day went from okay to phenomenal thanks to a lovely arrival in the mail. Not one, but TWO surprises. The first is #6 of Uppercase Magazine arrived, I can’t wait to dive in. If you aren’t a subscriber, I highly recommend that you become one … now! But if you can’t swing it, Janine lets you flip through a digital version online. Second, a very unexpected package from SwaySpace thanking me for a lovely post on their Knot journal. You’re welcome and thank you for the package of goodies, I feel like a little kid today!!! 0
Zara Carpenter
I fucking love these, yes I said that. I can’t find any other ways to express myself rather than that previous statement. Zara Carpenter is from England and is a poet and artist who’s work draws inspiration from the likes of Lewis Carroll and Oscar Wilde in her Etsy shop Chatham Girl. I was blown away when I saw her items featured on the Etsy home page as Featured Seller, read her interview. “I make hats out of the crazy things I find on my daily travels and making hats is what makes me happy.” “Being creative is a way for me to escape pain and illness. Even on the days I can’t walk at…
Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry
Hori Smoku is a documentary featuring the life and work of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. Obsessed with is works, yet I don’t have any of his style tattoos. I think it’s soon time to remedy that. 0
mkt4
Love these (inspirational?) posters from MKT4 which I saw on Behance. Super cute characters sending great messages. Make sure you visit the Goodies section of the website and download the image below for your desktop, I did! 0
Post Mortem Gallery
I am not one for obsessing over the after life, but if you walk into the Post Mortem Gallery – in New Hope, PA – you are sure to be as bewitched as I was. I’ve inserted a gallery at the bottom of the post, so don’t miss all the great items that I got to see in person! The most interesting to me in that shop, was the mourning art (or Art Memento Mori). The owner of the shop was nice enough to engage in some conversation and directed me towards the pieces on the wall. Have you ever heard/seen these? I have not. Using a loved one’s (those who have passed away) hair…
Vintage Maps
I decided to take a very imprompu trip to an antiques store today, and came across these maps for a second time. This time I had to get them. The smaller maps have a lovely black/aqua/orange color palette and the large one was printed in 1936 and is in fabulous condition. Most of them are of Canada but I also bought one of New York with a great illustrated map (upper right on the last photo), but I have no clue when it was printed. I’m not sure what I will exactly do with them yet, but I have a few inklings. 0
For the Love of Color
Seriously?! I love color, and this just blew me away – and not because it’s groundbreaking or anything crazy, but because it’s simple and lovely. For the Love of Color, is just that. Just add to your RSS feed and enjoy. Awesome. via @designvagabond 0
