Owen Glidersleeve
A-mazing work by Owen Glidersleeve! I’m majorly impressed with the precise cuts that are handmade.
Forage Bow Ties
Something’s Hiding in Here have been working on some really adorable bow ties for the Forage pop-up shop. How sweet they are! Read all about it on their blog!
Sewn News
I love these pieces of sewn artwork from Lauren DiCioccio. Using newspapers, she wraps the entire issue in muslin and hand embroiders a captivating photo over top. “I select a photograph from the paper; usually a strong image suggestive of power, leadership or communication; and embroider the image onto the fabric, applying colors in a painterly way and layering line and thread. Portions of the image remain as outline and threads tangle and unravel from the fabric. “ I also really like her embroidered slides! Via
S.A.S.E. Club
This little illustration is too cute, but what really struck me was that Invisible Creature is having fun with some old fashioned participation using snail mail. Why? Because we all like to receive good ol’ mail. So all you have to do is send them a self-addressed stamped envelope (decorated in some way) and they’ll fill it with goodies. I’m already planning mine out, oh, and you only have until September 1 and you have to get creative with your envelope! Read the details. “Regardless of your artistic ability, we ask that your envelope addressed to us be creatively designed or illustrated. No rules, anything goes – and we’ll post the coolest ones on Twitter.”
Garland
I am in awe of these handmade garland strands from kristina marie on Etsy. Especially the CMY set (missing the K form the CMYK, which is black) below!
Petal and Print
The talented Katie of Chelle Paperie has unofficially launched Petal and Print, a site that will combine two of her loves that include both paper goods and handmade flowers. I love the large flowers in place of a traditional bouquet, so pretty and bold!
You’re Flagged!
This weekend was amazing! Time was well spent with friends, family, and most importantly with my husband and son. While most of you were eating barbecue, downing lots of drinks (alcoholic or not) just to stay cool in the high-90 degree temps, I was thinking of these amazing flags on a time to get. I’ve lived in this home for three years and realized, I have NO flag to hang outside. So I was thinking of making my very own, and I wondered how people (especially dedicated patriots) would feel if I used a slightly different star pattern. They are so pretty! Would you find it offensive or confusing?!
Zara Carpenter
I fucking love these, yes I said that. I can’t find any other ways to express myself rather than that previous statement. Zara Carpenter is from England and is a poet and artist who’s work draws inspiration from the likes of Lewis Carroll and Oscar Wilde in her Etsy shop Chatham Girl. I was blown away when I saw her items featured on the Etsy home page as Featured Seller, read her interview. “I make hats out of the crazy things I find on my daily travels and making hats is what makes me happy.” “Being creative is a way for me to escape pain and illness. Even on the days I can’t walk at…
Quote Studio
I was reading up over on Oh, Hello Friend and just love Quote Studio’s bags! The Leather and Canvas Sea Bag is on my wish list! Isn’t it great?! I know all of my friends would be asking “Where did you get that bag?!” and it would make me smile! The bags are made in small quantities by Vicki and Jim out of Thailand, and I love them!
Diagrams
As you know I’m a fan of good looking information, and these diagrams hit it home. Sarah Selepouchin of Girls Can Tell, draws wonderful diagrams and then silkscreens them on to housewares that can be purchased from the Girls Can Tell store. If you are an Etsy seller or seller of handmade goods, you may want to check out her and her crafty partner’s business called Super School. Sarah and Allison provide consulting services to handmade businesses and also provide a few free tips in their Lab Lessons section.
