Papirmekanik

I don’t know why or what it’s for, but I like it. Papirmekanik is mechanics with paper. There are several other posts on the artist’s website.

Jeff Bridges

Jeff Bridges is everywhere. Not just because his upcoming films Tron and True Grit are highly anticipated, but because of his artistic abilities. JeffBridges.com features artwork completely hand drawn … by him. It’s really impressive and completely unexpected for an actor. I mean, where does he find the time to draw? And in addition to that, Esquire allowed him to bless the cover of their UK edition with his hand-drawn typography and replaced the logo with his handy-work. Unbelievable, right?! It looks amazing! +

Phos Pictures

23

Thanks to a tweet from Chris Cashdollar, I am officially immersed in the film work of Eliot Rausch and Phos Pictures. It began with Last Minutes with Oden, and then Pennies Heart. One by one I came to see how incredible these films are. I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful, so just watch.

Man Day

photo-04

On 8/8/09, Atlanta’s Ink & Dagger Tattoo hosted a celebration like no other. This video will give you a taste of the madness that transpired… Ink & Dagger Tattoo Parlour in Atlanta holds Man Day, (yes, it has it’s own website) an event filled with events and manly fare. Events include Bobbing for Lobsters, a Wing Eating Contest, Sideshow Acts, Custom Car Show, and lots more. I wanna go!!!

Peacock

A really fun story-like animation featuring the NBC Peacock logo. Isn’t he cute?!

Birdie Busch

[Audio clip: view full post to listen] I love the sarcastic tone of Philebrity, a news-based site focusing on the City of Brothery Love, Philadelphia. So I give you “City of Brotherly Love” by Birdie Busch which I found on their site. Lovely song.

S.A.S.E. Club

This little illustration is too cute, but what really struck me was that Invisible Creature is having fun with some old fashioned participation using snail mail. Why? Because we all like to receive good ol’ mail. So all you have to do is send them a self-addressed stamped envelope (decorated in some way) and they’ll fill it with goodies. I’m already planning mine out, oh, and you only have until September 1 and you have to get creative with your envelope! Read the details. “Regardless of your artistic ability, we ask that your envelope addressed to us be creatively designed or illustrated. No rules, anything goes – and we’ll post the coolest ones on Twitter.”

Florence + The Machine

While I hate people who post videos all of the time, and this is the second one for today – I just can’t help myself. Florence + The Machine has been my favorite artist to listen to (since discovering her on the Eclipse soundtrack for Twilight) and I’m officially won over by her voice and lyrics. “I want my music to sound like throwing yourself out of a tree, or off a tall building, or as if you’re being sucked down into the ocean and you can’t breathe,” says Florence Welch. “It’s something overwhelming and all-encompassing that fills you up, and you’re either going to explode with it, or you’re just going to disappear.”

Miss Firecracker

For the fourth of July we should all watch Holly Hunter as Miss Firecracker. I don’t remember when I first saw this movie, but I remember that I loved it. Happy Fourth everyone! p.s. If you’ve never seen this movie, check out the trailer!

Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry

Hori Smoku is a documentary featuring the life and work of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. Obsessed with is works, yet I don’t have any of his style tattoos. I think it’s soon time to remedy that.
