Same Sex Wedding Inspiration

So I’ve been working on a collection of invites, or something to that extent. And it came to me that I should create custom-illustrated wedding invites for a same sex couple. And it just so happened that right around the same time, Martha Stewart Weddings featured a same-sex couple wedding in their 15-year anniversary issue. So for those of you who are looking for inspiration, here’s an inspiration board for some thought. From left to right, top to bottom: Row 1: Just Married window display, Flickr; Custom Invitation, Faye + Co Row 2: Gray Area Pom Paper Decoration by PomLove Etsy, Combination Ring on Love & Pride, Groomswear on JCrew.com Row 3: Same-Sex Wedding feature…

Love Is In The Air

With Valentine’s Day less than one month away I came up with a cute little idea for a paper airplane with a trail of hearts. It was made for my husband but that is in addition to a much better gift which I will be posting about the process later on this week. I put these up for sale in my Etsy shop if you would like on of your very own. I will even hand-write a special message on the inside of the plane if you’d like.

Paper Quilling

While paper quilling as an art is not new, it’s being used in new ways by designers and artists. I found two great examples of them online. But let’s get a bit familiar with quilling or paper filigree. The art of quilling began during the Renaissance, when French and Italian nuns and monks used the unique paper art to decorate book covers and religious items. The quilling often imitated the original ironwork of those days. Common shapes used in quilling are shown above courtesy of quilling.blogspot.com. I’m sure the art will continue to evolve, and I look forward to seeing the results and may  just try it myself. Zim and Zou‘s work (shown above) has…

Emerson Made

I am quite surprised that I have not posted about Emersonmade but I am at this very moment! I’m a huge fan of Emersonmade’s stylish fabric flower accessories, and each photos is stylishly presented so that the flower is the shining star. And in fact, she is now my style idol. Her and her photo friend ( is it her husband, friend?), I want them to be my friends. These look the kind of people that I could hang out with. From the Emersonmade blog: *emersonmade hand-cuts-stitches-builds all the blooms so each is varied and has its own little soul- perfectly imperfect. yes this is right! its the joy of life to do it this…

Love Struck

I thought these Love Struck tickets were just too adorable to miss. Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, what do you have in store for your loved one? Tickets available at Impress Rubber Stamps.

Shadow Puppets

I found these adorable laser-cut shadow puppets by Isabellas Art while browsing on Etsy last night (from the Gotta Etsy app on my iPhone) and immediately fell in love. My 6-year old and I made some a year ago, simple ones such as dinosaurs, fish, and sharks and we had a blast. It’s amazing how much fun you can have with a flashlight, construction paper, and wooden skewers.

Rifle Paper Co.

The work of Rifle Paper Co. has been making the rounds on all of the blogs, but I couldn’t resist posting some of their work either. All work features the design and illustration of Ana Bond, an Orlando resident originally from the NJ/NY area. And I am totally envious of her studio soon opening, see below.

Klein Tool Bags

I have been secretly loving the Klein Tool bags and am thinking of putting many of them in my new home office. I especially like the new colorful Large Canvas Stand-Up Zipper Bags, these would be great for kids rooms too! And I really, really want one of these (shown below) Deluxe Leather Bags.

Letterpress Made Simple or Diminished?

The craft of letterpress has a long history and has gained popularity as it’s equipment has been hard to find and creates a quality like no other for printing projects. Recently a company called Lifestyle Crafts has released the L Letterpress Combo Kit that allows anyone to have a letterpress-effect on stationery. I saw it with my own eyes in AC Moore yesterday which led to this post, the effect looks nice but what about the letterpress industry? While this machine is limited in it’s size, I wonder what effect it will have on the letterpress industry. If you were to purchase a set of letterpress cards from a vendor and found out they used…

The Silver Lining

Thanks to a wonderful new blog Scoutie Girl, I found the work of ChezSucreChez on Etsy. I love the embroidered clouds with the silver lining and am thinking of putting one in my new home office.
