Lucia Gaggiotti

Loving the illustrative work of Lucia Gaggiotti! The italian-born designer/illustrator moved to London in 2005 where she continues her amazing work in the freelance sphere.

Drawn to Letters

I am so amazed at how the internet allows us all to find each other. Joanne of Drawn to Letters brought her work to my attention, and I just love the illustrations that she has created and applied to several of her products available on Etsy. Many of her products can be used in a nursery or kids room, but I just love her cards with knitting humor (shown above, right).

Post Mortem Gallery

I am not one for obsessing over the after life, but if you walk into the Post Mortem Gallery – in New Hope, PA – you are sure to be as bewitched as I was. I’ve inserted a gallery at the bottom of the post, so don’t miss all the great items that I got to see in person! The most interesting to me in that shop, was the mourning art (or Art Memento Mori). The owner of the shop was nice enough to engage in some conversation and directed me towards the pieces on the wall. Have you ever heard/seen these? I have not. Using a loved one’s (those who have passed away) hair…

Tease Your Guests!

While working with a great couple on their upcoming wedding stationery, they wanted to entice their guests with a unique save the date. The package featured a scroll with calligraphy that read “Eat this date, but please save ours”, and a date treat inside of a paper box with a custom insert to keep the two pieces separate. The guests’ first impression was a small box wrapped with a decorative paper and label that helps set the tone for their wedding day. It gives the guests a taste of what’s to come and leaves them wanting more.

Aubin and Wills

I have no clue who is behind the design and branding for Aubin and Wills but I love the mostly typographic look for their branding efforts and homewares! If anyone knows the agency/studio responsible for their treatments, or if it’s an in-house effort – please let me know! Via

Camila Drozd

Lettering is my weakness, and it is Camila Drozd’s strength! Take a look at the fantastic design work that has come from her hands. Well done!

Claridge’s

Wow-ee! I love when a well executed identity is completed. Construct London, has redesigned the identity for the world famous Claridge’s Hotel. The identity was inspired by “Art Deco and directed with OCD attention to detail”.

Benign Objects

I’m really adoring the work of Rachel Wiles of Benign Objects. A graphic designer and a writer/editor for The Dieline, Rachel creates handmade wedding invitations and I’m envious at how she incorporates unusual materials into her pieces. Handkerchiefs? Gorgeous! I might be looking into some unique ones myself, so watch out!

The Art of Hand Lettering

I just discovered this lovely blog of Alan Ariall’s hand lettering. The Art of Hand Lettering shows the process of hand-lettering from sketches to completion. I love how he includes the sketches, the inked drawings, and the final pieces. It’s not magic folks, it’s hard work.

More Tattoo Invitations

So the other work I warned you that I was working on invitations (three in one week!) and that I would post photos later. Alas, here they are! There’s quite a process involved with these beginning with research, then drawing, drawing, and more drawing. Once I’m satisfied with the drawings, they are inked and then scanned in (a few of the scans are shown below) so that I can add color using the computer. I have sheets of unused drawings but I plan to use them for inspiration on other designs. Wedding invitations for Megan & Casey. Hand drawn invitations, postcards, and envelope. Wedding invitations for Jason & Kasia. Hand Drawn invitations and rsvp cards.
