Herobear

Today at the library, my son and I were looking around for some new books to take home. He’s into Bionicle’s and Bakugan’s but I found something even more interesting on our search. I discovered the work of Mike Kunkel. I saw a book called Herobear and The Kid which looks super cute and the drawings are amazing! He has many other series and characters that I must share!

Love Is In The Air

With Valentine’s Day less than one month away I came up with a cute little idea for a paper airplane with a trail of hearts. It was made for my husband but that is in addition to a much better gift which I will be posting about the process later on this week. I put these up for sale in my Etsy shop if you would like on of your very own. I will even hand-write a special message on the inside of the plane if you’d like.

Rachel Dangerfield

Students are always inspiring, and Rachel Dangerfield is definitely in the inspiring category. I found her only because she left a comment on one of my posts here at Faye + Co, and once looking around her blog called Quail Creative I wanted more. She has her own Etsy store, Little Aviary and features much her work being created at Columbus College of Art & Design which she is graduating from in May. Today is her last first day at the college, good luck Rachel. Keep up the good work!

Nathaniel Cooper

Nice work by Nathaniel Cooper was featured on FFFFOUND!, but I couldn’t resist showing some of his other work.

Swink

After a few errands and appointments today, I got home to receive a fun little package from Swink. I found their little letterpress camper set a while back and now I am happy to announce that I own one myself! I participated in a swap they held some time ago and in return received these items. Thanks for the Better Stories set and the t-shirt Swink! I know I wrote a post about their Better Stories piece, but can’t find in on my blog anywhere. Here’s more about the project Better Stories on their site. Sorry Swink!

Acme

I was wandering around online once again and was really intrigued by the work of Acme, a design studio out of Bucharest, Romania. I especially liked the packaging and branding for Bernschutz & Co. shown below. Nicely done!

Paper Quilling

While paper quilling as an art is not new, it’s being used in new ways by designers and artists. I found two great examples of them online. But let’s get a bit familiar with quilling or paper filigree. The art of quilling began during the Renaissance, when French and Italian nuns and monks used the unique paper art to decorate book covers and religious items. The quilling often imitated the original ironwork of those days. Common shapes used in quilling are shown above courtesy of quilling.blogspot.com. I’m sure the art will continue to evolve, and I look forward to seeing the results and may  just try it myself. Zim and Zou‘s work (shown above) has…

Imogene + Willie

I am again, loving another couple. The sweet-seeming Carrie and Matt of Imogene + Willie located in Nashville, Tennessee. They began by producing premium denim for some of the world’s leading brands and now own a retro-fitted gas station where there is a hearty mix of product design, product execution, and product distribution. On the home page of their site is a video which urgently describes their vibe, their brand, and them. I can’t get enough of them!

Emerson Made

I am quite surprised that I have not posted about Emersonmade but I am at this very moment! I’m a huge fan of Emersonmade’s stylish fabric flower accessories, and each photos is stylishly presented so that the flower is the shining star. And in fact, she is now my style idol. Her and her photo friend ( is it her husband, friend?), I want them to be my friends. These look the kind of people that I could hang out with. From the Emersonmade blog: *emersonmade hand-cuts-stitches-builds all the blooms so each is varied and has its own little soul- perfectly imperfect. yes this is right! its the joy of life to do it this…

Illustrated Philadelphia

At a recent wedding held in Philadelphia, the talented Bryn Chernoff of PaperFinger created illustrated table cards of famous landmarks throughout the city for the couple’s event.
