Precious Bugarin Design
Thanks to Simplesong I just discovered Precious Bugarin, a purveyor of custom paper goods such as invites up to full-on branding capabilities. Love the color yellow, so I immediately loved the work.
Art & Copy
Art & Copy is screening near a city near you, and a city near me on Oct. 23. Are you going to go see it? Synopsis from the Art & Copy site: ART & COPY is a powerful new film about advertising and inspiration. Directed by Doug Pray (SURFWISE, SCRATCH, HYPE!), it reveals the work and wisdom of some of the most influential advertising creatives of our time — people who’ve profoundly impacted our culture, yet are virtually unknown outside their industry. Exploding forth from advertising’s “creative revolution” of the 1960s, these artists and writers all brought a surprisingly rebellious spirit to their work in a business more often associated with mediocrity or manipulation: George…

Chelle Paperie
Yesterday I posted about Once Upon a Press, which is a part of Chelle Paperie where wonderful stationery and invitations are made. I could not resist posting this extraordinary invite. And these fabulous Save the Date’s for the very same event. I would have loved to receive an invite like this, wouldn’t you?
Luggage Label Love
I just found these vintage luggage labels on eBay, oh eBay, why do you taunt me so? All on zazas123 store.
The Masonry Binder
I just can’t get over how wonderful this packaged set for Thompson Building Materials is. The design is by Nate Yates, a designer from (I think) the west coast. All of his work is worth taking a look at, so get over there and peek around.
Once Upon a Press
Wow. I love out of the ordinary projects. While I love the frilly wedding invitations, it’s fresh to see something different. And these prints made by Once Upon a Press for Ben Tolman for an artist exchange are exactly that. I was able to get a pretty snappy response from Katie at Once Upon a Press on the project – “It is printed by hand on grey rives BFK paper, wrapped in glassine and packaged in oversized grey envelopes.”
Super Furry
Too bad I have no idea who Super Furry is except for what’s on his Flickr page, but damn is his work good! Love all of the hand-lettered type and the fun shapes in his logos.
Kari Display
Kari Display is a fresh typeface from TypeTrust. Designed by Neil Summerour, Kari Display is a face that has been refined to where each glyph has been made as simple as possible. Kari is already a great typeface, but Kari Display takes it to a new level with elegant thicks and thins.
Peter Pavlov’s Doritos
Doritos offered a chance for eager designer’s to create new packaging for the crispy cheesy chip, and I would have to say Peter Pavlov’s concept is pretty darn good! Due to the packaging’s structure, it can keep itself closed rather than using a clip. Although I’m not sure how they would stay fresh unless it closes fairly tight, it’s a good idea. Right now the packaging uses only solid colors but Peter is developing illustrations to adorn the package and is asking for others to contribute their designs, maybe even a gallery would be created for those submissions.
