Stitching Halftones

I can really appreciate the work being done by Evelin Kasikov. My mom being the craftsperson she is, gave me the appreciate of handmade crafts long before I even knew what I was going to do in life. Now, I can look back and say THANK YOU! Evelin Kasikov and her Printed Matter project combines typical graphic design with craft by including hand embroidery as an analysis of optical mixture and color printing processes. She creates handmade halftone screens with thread on paper and the work is just, not only tactile but eye catching. And I really love the posters, but none to purchase? Think about us die-hard design collectors out there and offer up…

the Art of Catalin Bridinel

I just stumbled upon the customized WP site of Catalin Bridinel featuring his wonderful pieces of art. So many cute ones that I would want to hang on my wall, what about you? I love the header on the site, it suggests the work he does immediately. Technorati Profile

Custom Postage with iPhoto

Ever wanted to customize your postage? Or perhaps for a project that you’re working on. I have looked into several places who offer custom postage but the cost just wasn’t worth the effect. Well, I just discovered a nice app called PictureItPostage by Endicia which allows you to use your iPhoto to create custom stamps without dealing with the third-party online vendor. They also offer Picture It Postage for businesses! I love when I find new things and this just makes my day! It’s free to download and costs vary depending upon quantity and mailing rates.

Flip & Tumble

Ooh, I like these! I’ve been avoiding the plastic bags when food shopping and have been opting for my Target bought bags. But these bags are much more my style. Available at Flip & Tumble, these ripstop nylon bags are just the ticket for my weekly shopping trips. Advantages to these bags over other options? Let me list the ways: It’s large enough for 3 half gallons of milk and then some It crumbles up into a ball size of 3” or the size of a peach It’s strong enough for a bowling ball or two There’s a felt patch on the strap which keeps the bag on your shoulder Plastic bags spared? 1,000+ ‘Nuff…

New Work – StarPlayr

One of my routine things in my day is listening to Sirius. It was a gift at my first year with Hanlon Creative and I continue to renew my supscription each and every year. It’s on from the moment I get into my car until the time that I get out. Once I get into the studio, I start up my Mac and open my StarPlayr app. I’ve tried listening to it online, have even tried other apps, but none comes close to that of NiceMac’s application developed for the Sirius/XM listener who prefers a Mac over a PC. So it was my pleasure to create a logo and fresh icon for the application that…

Funnel

I’m loving the work of Eric Kass! From letterpress to good old branding, this is one site I don’t mind wasting time on. His site named Funnel features his work, news and inspiration. The identity above particulary caught my eye which he created for PLACE, a retail exhibit from Composition. I also love the screenprinting (or similar technique) of the color palette above on the brown kraft. It’s so eye-catching! via design work life

Vintage Lanterns

What did you during your extended weekend? Me? I went camping at a lovely place called Starlite Camping Resort where I pretty much ignored my iPhone the whole time, sat by the pool during the day, by fires at night and made smores with friends and family. Could it get any better? Yes it did. I decided to wander outside of the campground and found a lovely antique shop filled with goods. One of the purchases was six antique lanterns globes that I am now selling in my Etsy store as hurricane lanterns for your outdoor space. Check them out, and if you are ever looking for something that you just can’t find in the…

Sweetness

I love the Pounce feature on Etsy and I can blame this little post on it. I love these sweet little paintings (just 8×8 inches in size) and are so good you may try to eat them! Baby Chick Designs is a fairly new shop and sells their prints unframed.

India

I love the new India Collection over at Paper Source, don’t you? Nice patterns and great color combinations! I especially love the Jaipur print above, so gorgeous.

Make Your Mark

When it comes to being creative, it is a great thing. But one of the downfalls can be the need to protect your ideas by looking at it as intellectual property. Make Your Mark by Design Victoria is intended to “to help strengthen the local design sector focused on helping graphic and industrial designers understand the inherent value of their intellectual property (IP).” They developed a series of booklets or “How To” kits explaining the complex issues that come along with being a creative person wanting to protect their ideas or IP (Intellectual Property). Download your copy here. And this is not just an issue for designers in Australia, it’s an issue for all creatives….
