Off to Ontario!

Well it’s Canada or bust folks! The family and I are headed off to Kingston, Ontario for a final camping trip of the summer. This will be my first time in our neighboring country and I hear it’s beautiful and can’t wait to get there. It’s supposed to take between 6-7 hours from southeast Pennsylvania and have lots of magazines and snacks for the car ride, too bad I don’t have an iPhone because then I could post some photos from along the way. But since I have a sad little phone from Nextel, I can’t. Take care and see you after Labor day!!!

Pentagram on par

As always, Pentagram is dishing out the good work. Most recently is Central Park West. Bellissimo!

Dear Adobe

I love this! Dear Adobe is an online open forum for you to voice your opinion and gripes about any and all Adobe products! There’s nothing worse than trying to get through your work day with programs crashing, errors occurring and then no one doing a damn thing about it. Have a gripe of your own? Submit it to them and maybe you’ll see your gripe up there with the rest. Thanks to SwissMiss for this great post!!!!

Etsy Vintage

I have a confession. I have a vintage shop on Etsy. I love shopping for unique little items that I would personally want and sell them online to others who may not be able to find them. Living in such an antique haven, I couldn’t resist! I have small to medium items and plan on adding more depending on the success of the shop. It is so much fun going to yard sales, small antique shops, big antique shops and finding treasures that were unwanted. My most recent finds are cameras, ooooo-ooh how I love these cameras. If I didn’t have my Etsy shop I would be keeping these for myself. So unique and so,…

Nice posts

There are some really nice posts over at evasion.cc, a blog called visual evasion which covers graphics, web design, illustration and photography. Such as What is real design?, which caught my eye and is the truth! I really dug this poster on the post called Death in America, wowser! A nice letterpress video post titled Documentair l’impression typographique. The only downside to the blog is that it’s in French, and I’m not French so it makes it difficult to read. But it is definitely visually appealing!

New online shops found!

I’m obsessed with the online experience, and even more with online shopping. One of my most favorite finds was Craigslist.com. It’s the best. Lushpad It’s pretty obvious why I like the site below, (especially if you read yesterday’s post on Knoll) but not only can you post ads for items that you want but you can also browse through items for sale! I am always on the lookout for modern furniture (which is why I love Craigslist) and the site is so well designed!!! You can’t ask for something better than that! Functional and it looks good? I’m there. Oh, and I forgot to mention, you can browse by designer or artist and it shows…

Inspiration from Knoll

Looking for inspiration or do you have an obsession with well-designed chairs? Me too. I love looking at the amazing photos on the Knoll Photo Bank/Media Library. From interior shots to product views, and images from showrooms around the world; your mid-century sweet-tooth will be satisfied. Most of the images you find in your search results can also be seen used in the catalogs and brochures from Knoll. I love the ones of individual furniture pieces with interesting compositions when they are stacked or balanced, it gives the products some personality. I couldn’t find too much information of the folks who actually photograph the pieces or who designs the collateral for Knoll, but consistency is…

ENORMOUS type

If I lived in a huge loft or studio-like apartment, I would want one of these. And even though I have many huge walls in my home, I just don’t know if it would have the same feel. But the fantastic David at oddhero has huge prints up to 44″ x 58″ for $750 and 33.3″ x 44″ for $400. Below is my choice titled Aachen Bold, love it! I first saw this on the Design*Sponge blog and below is another wonderful post from Grace on the new kithaus from DWR installed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I love those vintage road signs, my antique radar will be dialed in for a set of those. So cool!

Meet Mom and Dad

Here’s three amazing photos of my mom and dad from Nov. 1971, eight years before I was born and two years before my oldest sister was born. Aren’t these great? I hijacked them before I moved out of my parents house and I’m not giving them back! You hear that mom? I’m keeping them! Ha ha ha ha ha! I’m not insane, I just really love these photos. I love the type of photo paper and I’ve decided to frame them and put them above my antique pine cabinet that my husband and I picked up at an antiques barn. Thanks mom! I’ve picked out the frame on the bottom right from Pottery Barn, the…

Your own private island

A nice link to private residences on islands. The article is titled and rightly so 5 Insanely Small Inhabited Private Islands. One of them is in Canada near where I’ll be vacationing next week, hopefully I’ll bring back a photo of it to share! Yippee!
