Yellow Door
My husband and I have been doing a lo of updates to our newly acquired house. Yesterday we were trying to convince one another to either paint our front door red or yellow (my choice). I told him we could Rock Paper Scissors for it, but he just thought that was plain silly! Either one is rather colorful, but after taking a drive through our ‘hood, I realized so many other homes already had red doors (none as bright as the one above), but red, finished wood, and white were the most popular. I was inspired by the Blueprint article, The Stepped-Up Stoop (see image below) and fell in love with the idea of a…
Product of the Day | Robin Hook
I saw this site originally on The Style Files, I fell in love with the “Robin Hook”. I can’t link directly to the Robin Hook product because the site is built using Flash, but visit them at www.vow.fi. VOW (Viktor on Wheels) is a group of interior designers based in Finland working in spatial, furniture and product design and they have a handsome selection of products on their website. I would love to have this in my living room!!! It would look like it belonged with our gray, white and black color scheme. Too bad it’s not available to purchase yet but I will keep them in the files. So adorable, so modern!
Pentagram | Black Book
Pentagram has announced the publication of the Black Book, 800 pages of their recent work. The book showcases over 400 projects from several years. Unfortunately it’s not for sale, so you can only drool over it’s beautiful pages here and on their blog. Tabbed pages, beautiful binding and ribbon markers … oh to feel it’s pages in between my fingers. Too bad, I made an attempt to win one through email but I was probably too late. Nicely done tabs, nicely done. For those of you who don’t know of Pentagram (and you should!), they are (in my opinion) one of the leading design companies around. And I don’t mean most profitable or shelves full…

Friday Favorite
My Friday favorite this week is personal, it’s my husband, Dustin. I’ve been dealing with a little but of stress planning a few parties and balancing home and work life. But Dustin has kept me balanced and let me vent (in other words talk his ear off) and let it all out. So thank you honey, it means a lot!
Do It Yourself Wedding
It’s wedding season and I know all of the brides out there are scrambling to get it all together. But for those of you who are still in the planning stage, a DIY wedding is possible! All of the images above (taken by Julie Melton of Sweetwater Portraits) are all of my favorite DIY projects from my wedding (except for the flowers which were done by the talented duo The Wedding Designers). Fortunately, we were able to do the invitations, favors, place cards, balloons, and the complete decorating of the hall … and believe me it made a huge difference! And I have to mention that my mom made an incredible wedding dress for me…
Rollercoaster
Thanks to NotCot, I found this amazing animation expressing the feeling of an experience at an orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra to be exact.
Featured Artist | Steven Harrington
Artist and Illustrator Steven Harrington of South Pasadena, California has some amazing work and I never would have discovered him if it weren’t for the NewsToday website. His artwork is very, I almost want to say 60′s style with a touch of modern and a twist of folk art. His pieces are alive with color and grab the attention of your eyes with every detail. I found a nice interview with Steven on a site called Heavy Backpack where it states that his influences were Time Life Encyclopedia’s from the 60′s through the 70′s and the Moody Blues (I had such a crush on Justin Hayward the lead singer, but that’s another story) and it…

Recent Work – April
I don’t usually promote my work through my blog as it’s just an outlet for anything that I see online that’s fun and that I would like to share. But I’ve been working on a website that I think is just amazing and thought it was worth showing off a bit. I expect it to be live in about a week or two and here’s a peek at the before and (soon-to-be) after. Before After – Home Page After – About Page It has been a pleasure creating this site and I’m working with a talented developer and can’t wait to see the outcome! I’ll update this post as soon as the site goes live.
