LetterHead Fonts Review
Finding the right font for a project can be difficult as is, but many online foundry’s have made it easier for the designer to search for, test and buy fonts. I’m going to feature a Type site each day over the next week and within each post I will have some yummy screen shots and pointers when purchasing new fonts. I’ll be listing them in ascending order saving the best for last!!! If you know of any other type sites that I am leaving out and feel they should be included, please send me an email or add a comment with a link to the noteworthy site. animal pop art
Do you love your furry friends enough to display them on your wall? If you do, head on over to ArtByCat’s shop on Etsy. She has a variety of Pop Art paintings featuring pets for sell and they are just adorable! The paintings are 8.5 x 11 unstretched and 7 x 9 stretched. I can just imagine these as a collage of paintings on the wall, it would really look great! They are reasonably priced at $20 and she has a few other paintings available besides animals.
Hand drawn maps
I am loving hand-drawn lettering more and more. I found these maps today, created by Stephannie Barba citing Couture Calligraphy & Stationery. Her maps are created mostly for weddings or similar events and feature hand-drawn type, illustrations and they are just lovely! I create two maps of my very own for my wedding stationery and it was fun yet grueling, and Stephannie’s are all beautiful and you can view a variety of her maps from all over at her Calligraphy & Stationery website or on her Couture Maps website.
Fascinating street installations
While browsing on ffffound.com today, I saw the image below posted. It made me laugh and then I clicked on the link to find out more. This installation is by Mark Jenkins, an artist who created installations that are almost heart-stopping and can really blow your mind. Some of them made me laugh, some of them disgusted me, yet all of them were fascinating. If you appreciate installations that are unique and thought-provoking or just like something a little offbeat, check out Mark’s website with four different galleries full of his work. And if you are in the Philadelphia area, he has featured some of his work in your area. For more information about Mark…

A little love for marshmallows
Every night I get home I have a few guilty pleasures when I walk in the door. The first is to take off my shoes, wearing them all day makes me feel weighed down and once there off I feel free as a bird! The second is getting to see my two favorite men, my husband and my 4-year old son. The third is digging through my (usually small) pile of mail. I get secretly disappointed when I don’t get anything, making Sundays a bore and holidays annoying. But tonight when arriving home, I had a lovely assortment of catalogs, bills, junk mail and a magazine. I immediately grabbed the Williams-Sonoma catalog and began thumbing…
Kanye West’s Blog
Known as a rapper, producer and great music-maker, Kanye West is known as many things. But what many of you might not know is that Kanye at one point was an art student (maybe interested in design?) and has an eye for good-looking design. On his blog he gives behind-the-scene looks into his careere as well as posting regularly about favored designs. Such as the Hennessy Ellipse Cognac bottle, a gold-plated toilet, and refers to the new Nestle Chocolate Factory in Mexico as “avant-garde ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’”, his designer of the week; Marc Newson, and the Meltdown Chair by Tom Price So if you’re looking for somewhere that you can go to view…
Prepare to drool
*UPDATE: This site is back?! What was originally a part of the NotCot family is run by Sarah of The Delicious Life. This site was removed from NotCot at one point and maybe this was the reason for it being taken down? This site makes me want to cook something new up every chance that I can get! The makers of NotCot also run and manage TasteSpotting, a site where users are asked to “feed your addiction.” The site allows users and admin to post up yummy looking photos from the web which when clicked on can lead you to either the delicious recipes so that you can D.I.Y. or to another site where the…
