designer of the month | amy butler

Designer of the month: … is Amy Butler I first heard of Amy Butler’s work on sfgirlbybay’s blog when she was in search of a pin cushion. Something that was good-looking yet still looked handmade, she found the Amy Butler pin cushion design and further down in her blog she highlights Amy’s new book, Midwest Modern, a fresh design spirit for the modern lifestyle . I purchased my copy today and can’t wait to see what lovely things are in the book. Such as the Amy Butler Pajama Pants design. Oh, they look so comfortable! Courtesy of sfgirlbybay blog.

Hello from Corporate Pig!

I used to get emails each week with three highlighted links of either designers, artists or related professions and Meredith Dittmar of Corporate Pig was one of them who I actually continue to visit. The most known of her items is her “guys” who I now personally own three of them. They stand on my desk usually in a group and at times look as although they might be talking, whispering or conspiring together. They really add personality to my space and even though they are just 3-inches tall, they have big impact on my visitors. Now, Meredith had a gallery show of her other work which is just as if not more fascinating. Meredith’s…

Biz Ladies event in Philadelphia

Last night I attended the Biz Ladies event at DWR in Philadelphia which was hosted by Grace from Design*Sponge and co-hosted by Joy of Oh Joy! It was a great turn out with plenty of biz ladies and a variety of careers came together for a night of talking, learning and connecting. It was filled with talented women from the area and beyond and information that can assist any design-oriented business in furthering their success. If you are in another part of the country visit Design*Sponge to see other events happening in San Francisco, New York and beyond! Thanks to Grace and Joy for bringing us all together! p.s. That’s me on the right side…

Book Watch | 100 Days of Monsters by Stefan Bucher

Creativity it’s a wonderful thing. I know the day I actually sit down and do what truly makes me happy is when I (hopefully) will hit it big. I’m not sure what I mean by “hit it big” but you get the idea. Stefan Bucher began doing one monster on his blog every day, and out of this fun little exercise came a book! The Monsters were created by placing a drop of ink on paper and then using a straw to blow out the ink into different directions. He then used his black pens to add on to the ink and create fun little characters, or Monsters. The book is expected to be out…

Back from the Honeymoon

Hello! I just got back from my honeymoon and gave myself an extra week to get caught up on work and family. I am now (unofficially) Mrs. Diane Zerr. Once I get my Name Change packet, it will be official. Our resort in the Dominican Republic was absolutely gorgeous, first-class service and best of all we had a wonderful time with just the two of us. Unfortunately after returning I realized I should have gone outside of the resort and taken pictures of the real Dominican Republic. Inside the resort was Paradise but outside of those parameters was a totally different world. I regret not taking photos of the signs, the people and the scenery….
